Job title: Production Lead Technician – Distillation Team
Reports to: Production Team Leader
Job grade: B
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will:
β’ Operate plant and equipment (various levels of complexity), to mix, manufacture, transfer, and pack product.
β’Weighing and blending of ingredients as per formulation and manufacturing instructions.
β’ Packaging of finished products to company standards. Ensure accuracy of records and documentation is in line with defined company standards.
β’ Provide and deliver training to technicians as required.
β’ Handling / manufacturing products and raw materials by complying with the information within the MSDSβs, risk and COSHH assessments.
β’ Use of manual handling equipment available for moving heavy ingredients e.g., product drums and packs.
β’ Maintain high levels of hygiene and housekeeping, observing company policies and operating βclean-as-you-goβ practices consistent with HACCP, GMP and general BRC requirements.
β’ Escalation of out of spec items for remedial action.
β’ Ensure that when products are transferred to other Departments, they are in a suitable βfit for purposeβ condition that meets the customerβs expectations.
β’ Liaising with the Production Team Leaders, reporting on progress, informing of issues.
β’ Keeping the Production Team Leaders aware of any shortfalls on raw materials to meet the plan and fully utilise the production equipment.
β’ Drive WCM activity within the department, supporting the Continuous Improvement culture.
β’ Provide Team Leader cover at Team Tier 1 meetings and at the 08.30 production review meeting.
β’ Provide Shift Cover as and when required β a 10% shift allowance will be payable
Essential criteria for this position are:
β’ Numerate and literate
β’ Operate basic processes and equipment
β’ A good understanding of quality control systems
β’ An understanding of food hygiene
β’ Experience within a manufacturing environment
β’ Operation of some detailed plant operations
β’ Experience of manufacturing processes
β’ Technical knowledge of production processes
β’ Technical understanding of complex equipment
β’ A knowledge of basic planning systems and demonstrated competence with task allocation
β’ Experience with training and development of new employees.
β’ The ability to communicate openly with multiple functions across the business.
Desirable criteria for this position are:
β’ Distillation experience
β’ Previous work experience in a BRCGS regulated environment
