Job title: R&D Technician
Reports to: Process Engineer
Job grade: B
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will:
• Assist and support R&D Team in development projects.
• Accurate sample preparation as directed by Process Engineer.
• Effective maintenance of laboratory ingredients, raw materials and everyday consumables and laboratory ordering
• Effective maintenance of equipment stocks.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining GMP and hygiene requirements relating to the R&D laboratory.
• Assist and support R&D Team in process and product trials and validation in the laboratory and factory.
• Assist team in data collation, management and reporting.
• Highlight required areas for improvement and liaise with other Department members to allow completion against set timescales.
• Support Company goals by involvement within area improvement teams.
Desirable knowledge and skills:
• Chemistry/Science related degree or higher education in a science subject
• Experience in a similar role desirable
• High attention to detail with accurate record keeping and a passion for continuous improvement
• Understanding of statistical methods in analysing results
• Analytical thinking for practical problem solving and achieving stretch targets
• Good numerical skills
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise own workload
• Good IT skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook with ability to use Excel to analyse data
• Enthusiasm, self-motivation and a “can do” attitude
• Excellent communication skills with a willingness to collaborate and build relationships across the business, to be customer focused and to be a team player
