Job title: QC Technician
Reports to: QC Laboratory Manager
Department: Quality Control
Location: Barton Stacey

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will have responsibility for:

  • Routine testing of samples submitted to QC taking responsibility for appropriate analysis and evaluation of results and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Contribute to daily sensory evaluation of all QC samples
  • Operation of Instrument lab and daily running of the GCs
  • Challenge QC methods, or specification to ensure samples are being treated appropriately and raise change enquiries as required
  • Carry out investigation into failed tests on samples or atypical results quickly and efficiently using analytical thinking and problem-solving techniques
  • Data analysis to identify opportunities to improve testing methodology and efficiency, propose solutions and assist in the development and maintenance of QC methods and work instructions.

Job knowledge and skill requirements for this position are:

  • Food/Science or Chemistry related degree is desirable, but Science education to at least A level standard (or equivalent) is essential
  • Good numeric skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office with ability to use Excel to analyse data
  • Accurate detailed record keeping skills
  • Experience of working in a busy lab environment to GLP standards
  • Willingness to build relationships, be customer focused and ability to work autonomously or in a team
  • Practical problem-solving ability
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills with ability to work to deadlines and prioritise own workload
  • Experience of food or fragrance industry is desirable
  • Familiarity with testing/laboratory equipment is desirable
